- Credentials
As a talented litigator with diverse and extensive experience, Ryan Manion understands that the smallest details can have an oversized impact on the outcome of a case. But as a business-minded attorney, he also appreciates that every dispute must be seen and approached in the larger context of the client’s overall strategic goals and long-term interests. Ryan’s ability to seamlessly combine both perspectives, through meticulous preparation and close and collaborative working relationships with his clients, forms the foundation of his forceful and effective courtroom advocacy.
Ryan focuses his practice on complex commercial and business litigation, including ownership and shareholder disputes, employment litigation, appellate advocacy, and antitrust matters. At every stage of the litigation lifecycle, from case evaluation through trial and appeal, Ryan leverages both his creativity as a musician and the behind-the-bench insights he gained during his prestigious clerkship with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit to consistently obtain favorable outcomes for his clients.
Throughout his career, Ryan has litigated a wide range of matters in state and federal trial and appellate courts, as well as in administrative proceedings and alternative dispute resolution forums. He has handled breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty claims, represented direct-action plaintiffs in antitrust cases, defended employers in employment discrimination suits, and overseen all aspects of litigation and discovery. Ryan’s appellate experience is particularly robust, as he has overseen all aspects of appeals, including drafting persuasive motions and briefs, presenting arguments and deftly parrying tough questions from appellate panels, and managing cases upon remand to the trial court.
A large part of Ryan’s trial and appellate success can be attributed to the three years he served as a Staff Law Clerk with the Seventh Circuit, where he worked with every judge on the court, including Judge Richard A. Posner and then-Judge Amy Coney Barrett, to draft orders, bench memoranda, and opinions. Ryan honed his attention to detail in this role, where judges routinely asked questions requiring a detailed understanding of the cases they were deciding and the cases cited in the court’s orders and opinions.
When not serving his clients, Ryan likes to spend his time playing music, going to concerts, visiting museums, and golfing.
