Law Firm Billing Specialist
LATIMER LEVAY FYOCK LLC seeks an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Billing Specialist to join our dynamic law firm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal billing, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Summary
The Legal Billing Specialist will work directly with billing attorneys to ensure accurate and timely production and delivery of the firm’s client invoices, including e-billing; enforce consistent application of approved billing arrangements, rate exceptions, discounts, write-downs, and write-offs; work with billing attorneys, billing committee, and clients on existing accounts receivable; assist with other billing and bookkeeping related tasks.
- Responsible for all aspects of the monthly billing cycle.
- Work with billing attorneys and clients to track and collect accounts receivable.
- Consult with billing attorneys and occasionally billing committee, regarding use of appropriate billing policies.
- Respond to questions relating to billing, accounts receivable, and work-in-process and produce reports as needed.
- Process client payments (checks, ACH/Wire, credit cards).
- Enter vendor invoices and other accounts payable duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Minimum of four years of billing experience in a law firm environment or relatable field.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge to perform detailed basic accounting tasks and procedures accurately.
- Ability to apply reason and logic in interpreting information from billing attorneys.
- Analytic ability to apply knowledge to practical applications and to foresee potential problems and effect solutions.
- Ability to work independently and effectively under time constraints in an accurate manner with a consistently high production level as well as ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate clearly and coherently with all levels of staff and clients, to include interpreting information and adapting communication to suit particular situations.
- Must have strong technology skills and particularly strong skills in a service-oriented office environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook and One Drive and the ability to prepare ad hoc reports and requests as needed.
- Experience with Centerbase, TyMetrix, CounselLink and Legal Tracker a plus.
- Positive attitude, work ethic and attendance record.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, benefit eligible position. Core business hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., with some flexibility in start and end times with a minimum of 4 days in the office per week.
Preferred Education and Experience
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices as normally acquired through an Associate’s degree in Accounting or closely related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Excellent organizational skills and sense of urgency to requests. Adaptable to changing priorities and work demands.

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 based on a 35-hour work week
