Whether formulating an estate plan, meeting with family members processing the loss of a loved one, or attempting to resolve emotionally fraught conflicts, Sarah Buck complements her thorough understanding of the law with an appreciation of the deeply personal and often traumatic nature of such matters. Her empathy, compassion, and patience provide her clients with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that they are represented by a skilled lawyer who is genuinely invested in their personal and financial well-being.
Sarah has extensive experience in all aspects of estate planning, probate and trust administration, estate and trust litigation, and adult guardianships. In all matters, Sarah takes the time to listen to each client’s own unique perspectives, concerns, and goals, making them the foundation upon which she develops the strategies and approaches best suited to her clients’ needs.
When working with clients to prepare comprehensive estate plans, Sarah explains options and provides clear, practical guidance so that they can understand the whats and whys of their plan and make informed, thoughtful decisions about their future. She assists trustees, executors, and their families with estate and trust administration, taking the weight off the shoulders of those who may not have the time or background to handle these duties themselves. She efficiently and conclusively works to distribute assets and close estates to ensure that both the law and the decedent’s wishes are followed and that her clients fulfill their responsibilities.
In the event that a dispute arises among family members or others about how to handle their loved one’s estate, assets, or other issues, Sarah aggressively yet strategically protects her clients’ interests in litigation, always seeking expeditious resolutions that reduce hostility and preserve or repair relationships while also securing a favorable outcome. Sarah also represents clients in adult guardianship proceedings, including contested matters, and works closely with financial institutions, guardians ad litem, court staff, and other attorneys in order to effectuate her clients’ goals.
Sarah’s peers have repeatedly recognized her professional accomplishments, naming her as a Rising Star or Super Lawyer every year since 2016. She also contributes her time and talents to Chicago Volunteer Legal Services as a court-appointed guardian ad litem for adult guardianship proceedings. When not serving clients, Sarah enjoys reading and spending time with her family playing board games and cards.
