Janet Wagner is a Partner at the firm who focuses her practice on banking and commercial financing transactions. She provides trusted counsel, meticulous documentation, and transparent communication to commercial banks, credit unions, institutional lenders, insurance companies, and other lenders in a broad spectrum of commercial and real estate financing matters.

Leveraging her comprehensive commercial lending and secured transaction experience at all phases of a loan or credit facility, Janet drafts documents that reflect the parties' intent and clearly state the details and the mechanics of how to achieve her clients’ desired result. In addition to laying the foundation for a successful transaction through well-crafted documentation, Janet’s practical guidance includes looking ahead to what lenders need during the onboarding and implementation process and any regulatory audits or exams that may arise.

In addition to real estate and commercial lending, Janet has advised lenders on documenting loans secured by unique collateral, including boats, aircraft, rail cars, and video gaming machines. She also handles commercial transactions and corporate matters, counsels clients on the day to day operation of businesses, reviews and negotiates contracts and other business documents, and advises clients on corporate governance matters and choice of entity. Janet’s work with not-for-profit companies includes providing fundraising counsel and other representation to the Retired Professional Football Players of Chicago, a non-profit that primarily aims to raise funds for its annual academic scholarship program for local youth.

A cum laude graduate of Mundelein College, Janet earned both a J.D. and LL.M. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. When not serving her clients, Janet enjoys knitting for people she loves, designing knitwear, running, and spending time with her children and pets.
