Ed focuses his practice on Corporate/Business Law, Business Organization, Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity, and Securities. He prides himself on frank, open communication that promotes informed and prudent decision-making.

With experience extending across a broad spectrum of industries, Ed provides seasoned representation and meticulous documentation to facilitate the establishment of new ventures, the raising of needed capital investment and financing, and sound corporate management and governance. His clients include businesses in the defense and aerospace, automotive, cannabis, software development, gaming, and real estate development sectors.

For public and private companies of all sizes and stages of growth, Ed assists with mergers and acquisitions, fund formations, strategic investments, and joint ventures. He regularly negotiates, structures, and closes complicated transactions in several regulated industries. Ed’s experience also extends to securities law, including working on private placements, public offerings, registered split-offs, shelf registrations, Rule 144A placements, tender offers, and going-private transactions.

Ed has been consistently recognized for his professional excellence, including designation as an Illinois Rising Star in 2012 and his inclusion on the Illinois SuperLawyers list for three years in a row. A talented writer, he is the co-author of the “Corporate Communications” chapter of the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education’s “Securities Law” publication.

Ed is a magna cum laude graduate of Roosevelt University and earned his law degree, with honors, from DePaul University College of Law. Ed also holds an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.

When not serving his clients, Ed enjoys spending time with his daughter, hiking and camping in national parks, and engaging in conservation work.
